The t parameter tells ALIM Web what type of object the quicklink is referencing. If you do not include the t parameter in the quicklink, ALIM Web assumes that the quicklink is referencing a document. Therefore, you do not have to specify the type when you are creating a quicklink for a document. However, for all other supported other object types you must add the "t" parameter to your quicklink and specify a value for it, for example, assigning "t=1", for a quicklink to a physical item.
